Northwest Furniture Bank

Founded in 2007, the NW Furniture Bank (NWFB) mission is to restore hope, dignity and stability in our community by recycling donated furniture to people in need. Our desire is for all families to have beds, tables, chairs, and the furnishings necessary to turn any house into a real home. NWFB serves families who are trying to rebuild their lives coming from situations like transitional housing, domestic abuse, suffering a loss from fire or natural disaster and young adults leaving foster homes. All our clients are low income and include veterans, the disabled or anyone living without furniture. Our services fill the gap between a person finding a home and furnishing it with the essential items.  http://www.nwfurniturebank.org

WonGen

WonGen Central Community Services is a non-profit food co-op designed to assist the working, struggling family get

back on financial track. We are located in the Prairie Ridge Community of Bonney Lake, but service families in a 50 mile radius of our distribution center. Qualified families are referred into the program through current participants or trusted community partners. Trhough the program they set financial goals and begin basic financial training. Participants pay a $50 monthly fee, shop once a week for groceries and receive $500-$600 in food and household goods. By reducing their spending on groceries, learning how to better manage their money, and being accountable to a community, families are experiencing steps towards financial freedom-reducing debt and increasing savings. Our vision is that families will graduate from our program with the skills to continue to live in financial freedom.

volunteer needs: We are in the process of some construction to build out a larger more permanent distribution space.  This project requires all kinds of trades including construction, plumbing, electricians and refrigeration.  These work projects are ongoing and are scheduled as volunteers are available.  People with these specialized skills should contact us directly so we can work out appropriate work days and times.

Regular volunteer work can be scheduled using Signup Genius
